Jr. Design Engineer


Job Summary:

The Design Engineer will work closely with senior engineers to provide support in the development and design of mechanical components and systems for research biomedical devices. Ensure functionality, performance, and manufacturability of instrument components and assemblies. Calculate and simulate mechanical, fluidic, and thermal tasks. Test prototypes and optimize manufacturing processes. Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software such as Solidworks. Document assembly and testing processes. Coordinate activities and manage design changes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of designs. Requires a degree in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or medical technology. Strong communication skills and technical proficiency in English are essential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • - Assist with the maintenance and technical support on-site for mechanical components and systems for research biomedical devices.
  • - Maintain the functionality, performance, and manufacturability of components and assemblies for instruments and disposables, considering functional, cost, and time considerations.
  • - Conduct tests on prototypes and production devices, optimize manufacturing processes for components and assemblies.
  • - Work with senior engineers to identify and develop solutions for design problems.
  • - Collaborate with the System Development department to ensure products meet specifications and requirements.
  • - Create 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks (Solid Edge or ProE are also acceptable) for mechanical components and systems.
  • - Document assembly and testing processes, coordinate activities across different disciplines, and create corresponding time and task schedules, particularly regarding design changes.
  • - Keep up to date with emerging technologies and design trends to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • - Travel within the EU area for on-site maintenance, technical support, and prototype and instrument testing.

 

Qualifications:

  • - Completed degree in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or medical technology.
  • - Ideally, gained initial relevant work experience, internships or working student positions.
  • - Basic knowledge of mechatronics/electronics systems.
  • - Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, ProE) and technical drawing with ISO standards.
  • - Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • - German language proficiency is a plus.
  • - Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • - Willingness to travel within the EU area.

Job Summary:
 
The Technical Assistant mechanics and electronics will work closely with senior engineers to provide support in the development and design of mechanical components and systems. The candidate will be responsible for the testing and troubleshooting of products, as well as providing technical solutions for the continues improvement of our instruments. The Technical Assistant will also work closely with the System Development department to ensure that products meet specifications and requirements. This position requires travel within the EU area to perform maintenance, technical support at site, and testing of prototypes and instruments.

  • - Assist with the maintenance and technical support at site for mechanical components and systems for research biomedical devices. 
  • - Test and troubleshoot prototypes and instruments to ensure functionality and quality. 
  • - Work with senior engineers to identify and develop solutions to design problems. 
  • - Collaborate with the System Development department to ensure that products meet specifications and requirements. 
  • - Create 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge or ProE) for mechanical components and systems.

Qualifications:
 

  • - Studies as a medical equipment technician (Ausbildung als Medizingerätetechnicker / Mechatroniker) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Bioengineering or related field 
  • - Knowledge of electronics systems 
  • - Good experience in building/maintenance and testing of prototypes and instruments.  
  • - Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, SolidEdge, ProE) and technical drawing 
  • - Good in English, both written and verbal 
  • - German language proficiency is a plus. 
  • - Experience finding design solutions for mechanical components and systems 
  • - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • - Excellent verbal communication skills
